Dissemination seminar in Ghana

Ghana education labour market outcomes30 May 08. In early April, the Associates for Change (AFC) in collaboration with the Economics Department of the University of Ghana organised a dissemination seminar on Education and Labour Market Outcomes in Ghana. Dr. Francis Teal from Oxford University presented a paper 'Skills and Earnings in the Formal and Informal Urban Employment in Ghana'. The seminar was well attended with over 50 participants from academia, civil society organisations, economists and policy makers from the Ministry of Education. The World Bank and DFID offices in Ghana were given copies of the paper.

AFC has been implementing its dissemination plan to ensure that the research findings are accessible to wider sections of the public and other stakeholders. Some of the planned activities this year include:

  • collaborating and forging linkages with the Department of Economics, Centre for Social Policy Study (both at the University of Ghana); the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), ABANTU for development, a gender-based NGO; the Ghana National Education Coalition Campaign; and Northern Network for Education Development, among others.
  • high level meetings with the Ministry of Education officials to present and discuss the research findings
