Household survey research is one of the key components of RECOUP research on educational outcomes and poverty. This year the survey was carried out in two provinces in Pakistan. The survey is to generate a panel data on 1,000 households. The objective is to collect detailed information about education, health, fertility, labour market outcomes, savings, assets, shocks, social capital, opinions, attitudes, and perceived well-being among other data.

The fieldwork for the household survey started in November 2006 and ended in March 2007.

A total of 1162 households were surveyed in 6 districts in Punjab and 3 in NWFP. The sample districts in Punjab include Chakwal, Attock, Rahimyar Khan, Sargodha, Kasur, and Khanewal. The NWFP includes the sample districts of Haripur, Swat and Charsadda. 11 enumerators in Punjab and 8 in NWFP have worked on the survey led by supervisors Rabea Malik, Feyza Bhatti and Adeel Faheem.

With the completion of Household Survey, the next phase of data entry is already underway. Data for about 230 households from NWFP has already been entered. With the current arrangement, data entry for Punjab is expected to be completed by end of June 2007.
